Job Purpose

To carry out the professional duties of a teacherin accordance withthe Teachers' Standards and to provide high-quality teaching and learning for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The post holder willbe responsible fordelivering a broad,balancedand appropriately differentiated curriculum that meets the individual needs of pupils, including those with complex learning difficulties
Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning
Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils.
Adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of complex needs (e.g. PMLD, ASD, SLD, SEMH).
Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) / EHCP targets.
Use assessment effectively tomonitorprogress and inform next steps.
Planning and preparing activities and organising resources needed prior to each teaching session.
Create a safe,inclusiveand stimulating learning environment.



Curriculum and Assessment
Deliver a personalised curriculumappropriate topupils' developmental stages.
Track and record pupil progress in line with school systems& curriculum requirement.
Contribute to curriculum development within the school.
Ensure learning is meaningful, engaging and promotes independence.
Behaviour and Pastoral Support
Promote positive behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy.
Support pupils with communication, sensory and emotional regulation needs.
Work closely with families to support pupils' wellbeing and development.
Safeguarding
Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
Follow all school safeguarding policies and procedures.
Report any concerns in line with statutory guidance.
Partnership Working
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and support staff.
Liaise with parents/carers,therapistsand external professionals.
Contribute to Annual Reviews and multi-agency meetings.
Professional Responsibilities
Engage in continuous professional development.
Participate in staff meetings,trainingand school events.
Contribute to the wider life of the school.
Uphold the values and ethos of the school and Essex County Council.

General Duties

Comply withall school policies and procedures.
Undertake reasonableadditionalduties as directed by the Headteacher.

Person Specification
Essential
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Degree or equivalent qualification
Experience teaching within a primary or secondary setting
Experience planning differentiated lessons
Experience supporting pupils with SEND
Experience contributing to EHCPs and Annual Reviews
Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice
Knowledge of behaviour regulation strategies
Ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons
Ability to manage behaviour positively and consistently
Strong communicationskills (verbal and written)
Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
Commitment to inclusion and equality
Patience,resilienceand flexibility
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children
Reflective practitioner committed to professional development
Desirable:
SEND-specific training (e.g. PMLD, ASD, SEMH, SLD)
Team Teach / Positive Handling training
Experience working in a special school setting
Experience supporting pupils with complex needs (e.g. PMLD, ASD, SEMH)

The successful candidate must:
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
Demonstrate suitability to work with children as part of safer recruitment procedures.
