TreetopsLearning Community is excited to offer an opportunity for aqualifiedteacher to join our team.You will work in collaboration with our Senior Leadership Team to contribute to the development of our new SLD pathway.

In March2025Treetops School was judged by Ofsted to havemaintainedthe standardsidentifiedat thepreviousinspection.Thepreviousinspection was in February 2020, at which time Treetops was judged as Outstanding. Treetops Free School, which officially opened in September 2022, was judged Good in its first Ofsted inspection in March 2024. 

Students throughoutTreetopsLearning Community have complex needs varying from moderate to severe learning difficulties, which mayinclude;speech and communication difficulties,autismand global developmental delay.


Job Purpose: To provide high-quality teaching and learning experiences forlearners with Special Educational Needsand Disabilities(SEND), ensuring their individual needs are met and theyare given every opportunity toexceed their perceived potential.

Key Responsibilities:


1.Teaching and Learning:

  • Plan and delivermeaningful, creative,andengaginglessonsadaptedto the diverse needs of SENDlearners.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that fosterslearnerengagement and participation.
  • Utilise a variety of teaching methods and resources to meet the needs of all learners within their lessons understanding that one size does not fit all
  • To plan lessons that promote active learning, whereskills and knowledge are gained and applied to real life contextsin line with our curriculum


2.Education,Healthand Care Plans (EHCPs):

  • Develop, implement, and review EHCPs in collaboration with parents, carers, and other professionals.
  • Monitor and assesslearnerprogress against EHCP targets,making adjustmentsas necessary.
  • Ensure EHCPs are up-to-date and reflect the current needs andaspirationsof eachlearner.
  • To incorporate provisionstatedin the EHCP into practice
  • To work closely with the pathway leader to develop and review EHCPs forlearners, ensuring that outcomes of learners within the class are SMART


3.Assessment:

  • To ensure that all assessment information is completed totracklearnerprogress andidentifyareas for improvementIncluding behaviour information, EHCP outcomes, Evidence for Learning, Phonics, Flight Paths
  • To use assessment information to plan interventions to improve outcomes for learners in your class, including monitoring and oversight of Evidence for Learning including evidence capturing
  • Provide constructive feedback tolearners and parents/carers.


4.Leading a Team of Staff:

  • Lead and manage a team of teaching assistants and support staff.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to staff to ensure effective delivery of SENDprovision.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive working environment.
  • Conduct appraisals for relevant staff in the team


5.Curriculum Development:

  • Contribute to the development and adaptation of the school curriculum to meet the needs of SENDlearnerslinked to pathways
  • Ensure the curriculum is accessible, relevant, and engaging for alllearnersincluding planning educational visits
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and resources.
  • To attend all CPD and apply approaches within the curriculum


6.Adapting Learning:

  • Adaptlearning activities and materials to cater to individuallearnerneeds.
  • Use assistive technology and resources to support learning.
  • Continuously evaluate and adapt teaching methods to improve outcomes for SENDlearners.


7.Collaborating with All Stakeholders:

  • Work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to supportlearnerdevelopment.
  • Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings and reviews.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to ensure a cohesive approach to SENDprovision.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Strong communicationand organisational skills.
  • You do not need SEND experience for this role. You will need to have willingness to learn!
