Start Date: Negotiable

Fixed term ends: 1st January 2026 (with the ambition to make permanent)

Salary: NJC Band 6 point 13-17

Actual starting salary: £9,690 + LGP pension; private health cash plan; 14 non working weeks a year

Hours: 16 hours per week

Days: 4 days per week

Contract: 38 weeks a year (term time only)


Example work pattern:(Travel between schools required, included in salary):


3 x days = "Field work", (1 day a week at each school ) (12 hrs) (different day to Megan)

12 -12:30 Run a weekly drop in for staff at the school, for personal signposting (physical or mental) or pupil related

12:30- 1 Monitoring, supporting and modelling first aid to staff at lunch time/ reviewing first aid logs for the week

1-2 Running in school interventions (Speech and lang, fine motor, time to talk etc)

2- 3 School based medical admin; policy & procedures monitoring; care plan reviews; parent meetings; teacher meetings.

3 - 4 Run Pupil first aid club (St Johns' programme and planning) // Dismiss pupils / ensure collected safely


1 x day = Trust HQ based (4hrs)

To publicise your presence to parents and to be a source of support and signposting to families
Ensure all policies and procedures that relate to health & medications are accurate, up to date and followed.
To compile a centrally held (and regularly updated) secure register of all staff across the trust who have medical needs/ mitigations in place to support them, to ensure we are doing all we can as an employer.
To compile, for each school (and regularly update) a secure register of all pupils across the school who have medical needs and the mitigations in place to support them.
Provide face to face or video training for staff (Epi pen, asthma, diabetes, first aid, bumped heads etc)
To ensure schools and the district school nurse team have a strong relationship
Run weekly interventions for pupils at each school as directed by the Senco or HT
Run a weekly first aid club for pupils at each school (St Johns)
To ensure all medical supplies in school are up to date, used properly and available as required.
To source and maintain defibrillators for each school
Ensure all pupil medication is within date and accompanied with the proper paperwork
To keep a cross trust record of first aiders and ensure they are up to date / compliant
Provide oversight and support for schools to ensure that period poverty is tackled and girls are supported.
To attend pupil / parent attendance meetings- when health related
To work with the HR manager and advise at back to work meetings
To work with schools to ensure individualcare / health / intimate plans are in place and reviewed.
Monitor cross-trust first aid ,collate data and roll out next steps to reduce incidents.
Oversee RIDDOR reportingand response
Ensure medical sections of school websites are up to date and useful
Provide a weekly "tip from the nurse/ paramedic" for our social media
To attend new intake and parent meetings at the schools (ad hoc)
To develop (with the Trust Business and Finance manager) a traded service to other local schools
To investigate any incident that results in a pupil needing external medical intervention, with a follow up report and recommendations to Trustees, LSBs and the school.
To complete mental health first aid training
A commitment to ongoing CPD is essential as is NMC (or HCPC) registration and agreement to revalidate is essential(reimbursable). Full professional indemnity insurance is a requirement (also reimbursable)

Job Purpose
To effectively take charge of the day-to-day health of each child within the Trust.
Duties
· To take charge of the administration of all medicines across the Trust.

· To model first aid assessments as required.

· To advise and train school staff (in conjunction with Health Authority) in specific procedures which they may be expected to carry out in the absence of a trained person.

· To promote health education in partnership with the teaching/support staff and the Health Authority.

· To ensure that the highest possible standards of clinical procedures are maintained.

· To liaise with parents and medical personnel.

· To work within Child Protection Procedures and to liaise with nominated Child Protection Officers. To be aware of Essex Child Protection procedures.

· To ensure confidentiality of all medical information.

· To ensure up-to-date clinical and professional practice is maintained.

· To provide assistance with first aid as required.

· Undertake any training commensurate with the post.

Any other duties as decided by the Headteacher to meet changed circumstances in a manner compatible with the post.
General
· To participate in the performance and development review process, taking personal responsibility for identification of learning, development and training opportunities in discussion with line managers.

· To comply with individual responsibilities, in accordance with the role, for health & safety in the workplace
