We are recruiting for a school cleaner to join our friendly team at Widford Lodge School.
You will commence work in January 2024, and work 3 hours per day during term time plus five other days.Occasional holiday time deep cleans by prior arrangement.
Job Purpose:To maintain the school premises to a high standard of cleanliness; required to clean all rooms, including classrooms, offices, toilets, cloakrooms, staircases, corridors, halls and all other areas in use.
Reports to:Headteacher
Salary: National minimum wage (currently £10.42 per hour)
Hours:15 hours per week 5:00pm - 8:00pm Monday to Friday in term time, plus 5 inset days. Occasional holiday time deep cleans by prior arrangement.
Duties:The normal duties of the post holder will usually include the following:
· To be responsible for cleaning certain parts of the school site as allocated by the site manager (this will vary from time to time), usually working with another member of the cleaning team. This will include:
o Vacuum cleaning hard and soft floors
o Spot cleaning of spillages
o Wiping furniture, ledges, pipes, paintwork, doors and polishing door glass
o Emptying and cleaning waste and recycling bins
o Cleaning toilets including sanitary fittings and surrounds
o Mopping and spray cleaning hard floor surfaces
o Wiping, polishing and straightening furniture
o Replenishing supplies in toilets and classrooms, etc
o Checking and closing windows, switching off lights after work and locking premises
o Such other duties as may be allocated from time to time
o To report all defects/hazards immediately to the Site Manager or Headteacher
· To use cleaning equipment and chemicals in a safe and proper manner, as instructed by the site manager.
· To operate cleaning machinery in cleaning soft and hard surfaces, eg. vacuum cleaners and polishers.
· To work within the guidelines of the school's Health and Safety Policy.
· To observe health and safety and security requirements.
· To complete any appropriate records or documentation required by the Headteacher
· To maintain good working relationships with other school staff and to co-operate with reasonable changes to daily work routines to assist the smooth operation of the school.
· To ensure that work undertaken complies with stated requirements and undertake appropriate training, as required.
· To promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with the school's safeguarding and child protection policy.
Information about the School
At Widford Lodge we have around 220 pupils and have been instilling a love of learning in pupils between the ages of 2 ½ and 11 for over 85 years.
Today we are proud to provide a caring, inclusive and diverse environment for our school community, offering a broad and balanced academic curriculum in a stimulating setting full of opportunities in which children can thrive.
Our children go on to grammar, independent and state senior schools. We are a supportive and caring team, working in a collaborative environment.
