A fantastic opportunity is available for a passionate Teacher of PE to join our team, for the right candidate we are offering a unique opportunity to take on the role of Head of Year. This is an exciting chance for someone with a pastoral background or those eager to lead in this capacity. As a Teacher of PE your goal will be ensuring students are equipped with the fundamental skills to foster a love for sport and exercise and prepare them for lifelong participation, whether it be for pleasure or employment.

We are one of the few schools in Essex to have a 3G Astro turf pitch. Our school has excellent indoor facilities too, including a Sports Hall, an activity studio, and a dedicated classroom for those pursuing OCR Cambridge National qualifications.

We offer an impressive range of sports lessons and extracurricular, including non-traditional options such as Spike Ball. Hockey, Rugby and Lacrosse are all taught on our field behind the school, we also offer Tennis. We have excellent links to the local tennis, rugby, hockey, athletic and running clubs. PE is an important part of the school and is certainly a popular option for students to study in Year 10 and 11.We pride ourselves on our successful district sports teams, being runners up in athletics and district champions in basketball. We also enter local and national competitions such as the Essex Cup and English League Cup.

Our department is made up of experienced teachers, including mentors for PGCE and ECT students from Brighton University.

The successful candidate will have the skills, expertise and passion to enthuse our students to achieve across PE and Sport.

Maltings is a 11-16 academy based in Witham, Essex. Situated between the cities of Chelmsford and Colchester, the academy has 900 students on roll and benefits from a purpose-built building that was constructed in 2011. There are excellent transport links to London which enables our staff and young people to take full advantage of the wealth of opportunities that London provides. Free car parking facilities are available on site.

We welcome applications from middle leaders with a strong track record leading a department, as well as those who have other leadership experience or experienced teachers ready for their next challenge.
