20 hours per week

Term time only, fixed term to 31st August 2024

Scale 3, Point range 5 to 6

Actual salary between £10,933 and £11,110 per annum (includes outer fringe)

We are seeking to appoint a caring individual to support a child with complex needs. You would be required to support the child with their needs in order to enable them to access and participate in school life and make educational progress. The role would also involve working with other children in the class setting. You must be able to demonstrate your ability to act on your own initiative and work within a team. You will need to be able to understand individual needs and follow advice and plans from specialists.

You will need to:

Have gained GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths
Experience of working with children with SEND is desirable, e.g. NVQ in Learning Support, but full training for the specific position will be provided
Be a positive, supportive and caring practitioner
Have very high expectations for learning and behaviour
Have the ability to work as part as a team, be flexible, solutions focused and good humoured
Be knowledgeable of child development
It is also desirable for you to have:
Level 2 or 3 teaching assistant qualification
At least 2 years of experience working in a school
Experience of adapting the curriculum for pupils with SEND
Knowledge of successful strategies to engage pupils with specific and significant needs
