With a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent): | £16,815.19 - £17,397.13 per annum
Without a Level 3 qualification: | £16,815.19 per annum
We're looking for a teaching assistant to join our team and help every child access learning, build confidence, and achieve their potential.
You'll work in partnership with teachers to support students in the classroom and through small group interventions. You'll help develop students' independence, self-esteem and social inclusion while making sure they can access the curriculum and experience real achievement.
This is a vital role. You'll work with students who have diverse learning needs, including those with SEND, and help create a safe and stimulating learning environment where every child can thrive.
If you're ambitious about your own development, we offer genuine career progression. You can work towards a Level 3 or Level 5 teaching assistant apprenticeship, or even join our Initial Teacher Training programme.
Key responsibilities
You will:
- develop an understanding of students' learning needs, including specific SEND needs, and support their access to lesson content;
- work in partnership with teachers to plan and assess high quality lessons;
- support individual students and small groups through targeted interventions;
- build positive relationships with students and consistently apply our behaviour policy;
- collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral staff, the SENDCO and parents to support learning; and
- contribute to the wider school community through completion of school related duties.
What we're looking for
You'll need:
- GCSE maths and English (grade 4 or above) or equivalent, or willingness to work towards functional skills qualifications;
- good communication and interpersonal skills;
- patience, empathy and a calm approach when working with students;
- resilience when faced with challenging situations;
- a willingness to learn about child development and how to use IT to support learning; and
- a commitment to equality and safeguarding.
We'd love to hear from you if you have experience working in a school or with young people, or a Level 3 teaching assistant qualification. But if you don't, that's okay. If you work 20 hours or more per week with us, we'll enrol you onto our Level 3 Initial Teaching Assistant Training programme.
Could this be the role where you make a real difference to young people's lives?

Information about the School
We are so proud to have been judged as an Outstanding School. It is a great privilege to be the Principal of such a thriving school community where high aspirations and a caring family ethos are at the heart of what we do as well as being a part of Lift Schools.
Our school vision begins with the words “Aim High” – we want all of our pupils to achieve high standards academically alongside exceptional personal development.
Our beautiful woodland setting enables our children to learn in calm, peaceful and awe-inspiring surroundings. In the Early Years Foundation stage, outdoor learning is an integral requirement of the curriculum; our children enjoy an extensive woodland setting in which to learn and play together.
“Working happily together inspiring a desire to learn” underpins all that we do and reflects the beliefs of all pupils and staff here at our school. Collectively we build our pupils’ aspirations and give them the skills and learning experiences to achieve them.As our vision makes clear, our school is a space for aspirations. We know, however, that to help realise these aspirations, our school’s focus must be rooted firmly in our children’s success in the present. Here at Lift Hockley, we take inspiration for this task from our natural setting. Just like the woodland surrounding us, our school is a communal space. We share it, we grow within it and, most importantly, we nurture it. Our school has places to sit and feel part of something, places to shelter and places from which to admire the beauty of everything that has grown within it.
We are fortunate to receive tremendous support from our parents and carers. The home school partnership is one of exceptional importance to us as we firmly believe that this is the key to ensuring successful learning for your child.
On arriving at Lift Hockley, you immediately notice the excellent learning behaviour of our pupils and the passion, enthusiasm and friendliness of our staff. We believe that your children’s journey to learning is lifelong and we feel privileged that Lift Hockley is where this very important journey begins.
