This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and reflective leader who is passionate about excellent teaching and wants to have a significant whole-school impact.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and challenge to middle and subject leaders, supporting them to improve the quality of teaching within their areas.
  • Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-informed approaches to teaching and learning across the school.
  • Develop a clear, evidence-informed model of effective teaching.
  • Lead or oversee high-quality professional development, ensuring CPD responds to identified areas of need and results in measurable improvements in classroom practice.
  • Develop a culture of instructional coaching, professional dialogue and deliberate practice that enables teachers at all career stages to continually improve.
  • Lead a rigorous and proportionate quality assurance programme, identifying strengths and priorities for improvement.
  • Work with curriculum and subject leaders to ensure assessment practices are purposeful, consistent and used effectively to inform teaching and improve student progress.
  • Analyse student progress and staff performance data to identify strengths and areas for development and inform targeted improvement activity.

What we are looking for

  • A strong classroom practitioner with a proven track record of achieving excellent progress and outcomes for all students.
  • Successful experience as a middle leader, with a track record of initiating and delivering school improvement.
  • The ability to lead and secure measurable improvements in Teaching and Learning across a department, phase or whole-school context.
  • Strong instructional leadership and the ability to develop others through high expectations, clear goals, coaching and appropriate challenge.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and influence a range of stakeholders.
  • A collaborative, reflective and analytical approach to leadership.
  • A degree, PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status.
