Part-Time, Flexible Working

The Rosary Trust is seeking to appoint a part-time Clerk to Trustees to support the effective governance, strategic leadership and ongoing development of the Trust.

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive individual to provide a clerking service to the Board of Trustees. We are happy to train the successful candidate to advise on governance, constitutional and procedural matters, ensure meetings are effectively administered, and provide high-quality administrative support to the Board.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking for a flexible role supporting a committed and ambitious Board.

About the Role

The Clerk to Trustees and Members will:

  • We will train you to provide professional clerking support to the Board of Trustees, Members and relevant committees.
  • Prepare and distribute agendas and meeting papers in consultation with the Chair and Chief Executive Officer.
  • Attend meetings, take accurate minutes and maintain records of actions and decisions.
  • We will train you to advise Trustees and Members on governance, constitutional and procedural matters.
  • We will train you to ensure governance arrangements comply with relevant legislation, regulations and Trust policies.
  • Maintain governance records and statutory information.
  • We will train you to support the Board in meeting its legal and regulatory responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with Trustees, Members, school leaders and other stakeholders.

The Clerk will attend meetings of the Board of Trustees as required. A minimum of 12 meetings per year is anticipated. Meetings are generally held during the day and are mostly based in Colchester, Essex, although some meetings may take place at Trust academies.

Additional meetings, such as complaints, admissions or exclusion panels, may be required from time to time and will be paid separately at the agreed hourly rate.

Salary

Scale 7, Points 19-24 (£17.17 - £18.96 per hour)

Hours are variable and will depend upon the number of meetings and associated governance requirements. The actual salary is based on an average of 6 hours per meeting. All approved hours worked, including preparation, attendance at meetings, minute-taking and follow-up actions, will be paid at the appropriate hourly rate.

There may also be opportunities for additional paid work supporting associated Multi Academy Trusts. For the right candidate, there may be scope to expand the role in the future to provide administrative support to the Trust's Central Team.

We Are Looking For Someone Who Has:

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills, including minute-taking, record-keeping and information management.
  • Excellent communication, listening, literacy and IT skills.
  • The ability to work independently whilst developing effective professional relationships with Trustees and school leaders.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • A flexible, proactive and self-motivated approach to work.
  • High levels of integrity, confidentiality and impartiality.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and learning.

We Can Offer

  • The opportunity to work alongside an experienced and committed Board of Trustees.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • A supportive and collaborative Trust environment.
  • Opportunities for professional development and governance training.
  • Potential opportunities for additional paid governance work within associated Trusts.
