This is an exciting opportunity for a practical and reliable professional who takes pride in maintaining high standards and understands the important role a well-managed site plays in supporting teaching, learning, and the wider school community.

About the Role

As Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance, security, and health and safety compliance of the school premises and grounds.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Opening and securing the school site each day.
  • Ensuring the safety, security, cleanliness, and presentation of the school grounds and buildings.
  • Undertaking routine repairs, maintenance, and decorating tasks.
  • Coordinating and monitoring contractors working on site.
  • Managing statutory testing and compliance checks, including fire safety, water hygiene, and site inspections.
  • Maintaining accurate premises and health and safety records.
  • Supporting emergency procedures and responding to site-related issues as required.
  • Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team to support ongoing improvements to the school environment.
  • Managing site improvement projects and ensuring value for money from external providers.

  • Has experience of premises, facilities, estates, or site management.
  • Possesses practical maintenance and DIY skills.
  • Has a strong understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Takes pride in maintaining a high-quality environment for children and staff.
  • Is dependable, flexible, and solution-focused.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience of building maintenance, caretaking, facilities, or site management.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures and risk management.
  • Ability to undertake minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly to accommodate the operational needs of the academy.
  • IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
  • Experience working within a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding requirements within schools.
  • Experience managing contractors and premises budgets.
