We are seeking to appoint an outstanding, passionate Teacher of Spanish who can inspire our pupils by delivering engaging, high-quality lessons and developing a genuine enthusiasm for languages and cultures. Spanish will be at the heart of your teaching. We want someone who can bring the language to life, building pupils' confidence to communicate while developing strong foundations in vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, listening, reading, speaking and writing. We want pupils to see Spanish not simply as a subject on their timetable, but as a language they can actually use - and a window into different countries, cultures and ways of life.

You'll teach across KS3 and KS4, helping pupils progress from those first tentative conversations to expressing increasingly complex ideas with confidence, accuracy and independence. You'll understand that successful language learning is built over time: carefully chosen vocabulary, explicit teaching, plenty of purposeful practice and regular opportunities to retrieve and use what pupils have learned.

Relationships matter here. One of the greatest advantages of being a small school is simple: every pupil is known. You won't just know the names on your register. You'll get to know the young people behind them - what motivates them, what they find difficult and when they need challenging.

Being small also means that staff have a visible impact. Ideas can become action quickly, colleagues know and support one another, and everyone plays a meaningful part in shaping the wider life of the school. We're looking for a team player: someone who values working alongside colleagues, shares ideas and expertise, supports others and is willing to get involved beyond their own classroom. We believe excellent teaching develops when teachers have the time and space to think deeply about their practice. That's why professional development happens every week. Our weekly PD sessions give colleagues regular opportunities to explore teaching and learning, share practice, deepen subject knowledge and think together about what will make the biggest difference to our pupils. We're embedding the use of StepLab to support this work by helping us turn evidence-informed ideas into deliberate practice, reflection and practical improvements in the classroom.

We're after someone who loves the classroom, thrives on making learning stick, and knows how to build pupils' confidence to communicate in another language. Someone who can make the intricacies of Spanish grammar feel achievable, who understands that mistakes are part of learning a language, and who can create a classroom where pupils are willing to have a go.

What you'll need:

• A strong track record of making real improvements in your own school(s)
• Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Spanish language and culture
• A willingness to try, reflect, refine, and try again - and get others to do the same
• Excellent people skills and a commitment to working as part of a team
• The flexibility to go with the flow - school improvement can be messy

Information about the School

South East Essex Academy Trust (SEEAT) is a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) with eight schools.

SEEAT was inaugurated on 1st April 2014. It was made up from Westcliff High School for Girls, Prince Avenue Academy, Nursery and Children’s Centre (sponsored by WHSG) and Rochford Primary School and Nursery. The Trust enlarged on 1st September 2014 with WHSG sponsoring the academisation of Holt Farm Junior School. In September 2021 The Deanes, Hadleigh Junior School and The Westborough School joined us followed by Heycroft Primary School in January 2024. The latest addition to the SEEAT family is Cornelius Vermuyden School, who officially joined SEEAT in June 2026 - although we have been working closely with the school since April 2024.

From September 2026 we have been working in partnership with Holt Farm School.

We are a friendly, collaborative family of schools and we believe that all the schools in the family have become significantly stronger since working together as part of SEEAT.
