We are seeking a proactive Site Manager to continue maintaining and improving our two wonderful sites. St. Mary's is a larger than average primary school with supportive SLT and staff who strive to ensure that all within our community flourish. Both sites have benefited from significant investment in recent years including new boilers and LED lighting. You will be fully supported in your new role with training provided, if required.

The ideal candidate will be:

· Hands on, hardworking, self-motivated, reliable and organised.

· Able to understand the importance of Health & Safety in the work place, follow H & S Policy, ensure accurate records are kept, be both proactive and reactive to situations. The management of H & S is a key element to this role.

· Able to manage a team of Site Staff and cleaners.

· Able to manage all aspects of maintenance and the development of the school sites.

· Confident using IT systems.

· Able to work on own initiative.


This is a full-time role of 37 hours per week, working one of two shifts: current shifts are 6am till 2pm or 10am till 6pm. There is some flexibility with these times in coordination with the current two site assistants. You will occasionally need to open or close for school events in the evenings or weekends.

The successful applicant will need a good range of skills and experience including building and grounds maintenance, general DIY and be able to take on the management of Health & Safety cleanliness and security.

As a member of the school team, you will be expected to:

· Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

· Have a good knowledge of health and safety, ideally with experience in a working environment, to ensure the H & S Policy is followed, statutory tests are carried out and that accurate records are maintained.

· Recognise the importance of your role in safeguarding the young people and be committed to doing everything you can to improve their experiences.

· Work as a member of the whole staff team to ensure that our pupils are provided with a safe, clean and attractive learning environment which will enhance their achievement and enjoyment.


In addition, other duties will include:

· Responsibility for the management of the security of the school sites including being a primary key holder.

· Day to day preventative and reactive maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and high-quality environment for the school staff and pupils.

· Organise larger maintenance jobs during school holiday periods.

· Effective management and liaison with external contractors.

· Day to day management of the site including working closely with the Business Manager on strategic site plans and the management of budgets, to ensure best value.
