After School Club Assistant
Scale 3
Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays 3:20pm - 5:00pm
We are a small school with a family feel and are situated in the heart of South Woodham Ferrers. Our Wrap Around Care is an integral part of our offer to parents, and popular with the children who attend. We have children attending aged 2 years old - 11 years old, so qualifications in childcare and paediactric first aid would be desirable. We are looking for someone kind and caring who will support children in their play. The provision is structured with time in our Opal Play playground, followed by a light snack for all children and time indoors accessing a range of games and toys. We also listen to the children read, and support them in their interests.
We require someone who can:
- Deliver quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
- Providing comprehensive care for the children.
- Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.
- Administering first aid when necessary.
- Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities.
- Undertaking appropriate and relevant training.
- Keeping the work environment healthy, safe and secure.
- Working within the framework of the club's policies and procedures.
Desired Qualities:
- Experience of working with 2 to 11 year olds
- Understanding the varied needs of children and their families
- Understanding how to provide quality play care for children
- Understanding how to ensure equal opportunities
- Provide and facilitate safe and creative play
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work as a team member
- Sound judgement and common sense
- Experience of working within a play-based setting
- Appropriate child protection training
- Paediatric First Aid Certificate
- Food Hygiene Certificate
