Inclusion Assistant
Start Date: December 2026
Type: Fixed Term Contract for 1 year to cover maternity leave
Salary: Scale 5, point 10 (actual salary £11,709 per annum, pending pay award)
Hours: 18.75 hours per week, term time only, working pattern to be discussed with successful candidate
We are seeking to appoint an Inclusion Assistant for a fixed term whilst the SENCO is on maternity leave.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher ensuring high quality, inclusive provision for pupils with SEND across Early Years and KS1, enabling early identification, targeted intervention, and strong partnership with families and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
SEND Identification & Assessment
· Support early identification ofadditionalneeds through observation, assessment data, and liaison with staff.
· Contribute to the creation and review ofOne Planning.
· Assistwith gathering evidence for referrals to external agencies (e.g., Speech & Language Therapy andPaediatrics).
Intervention Planning & Delivery
· Help design,monitor, and evaluate small‑group and 1:1 interventions (phonics, speech & language, social communication, fine motor skills).
· Model strategies for TAs and teachers working with pupils with SEND.
· Track progress and adjust provision based on outcomes.
Classroom Support & Inclusive Practice
· Promote high‑quality universal provision in line with theGraduated Approach.
· Supportthe school'sbehaviourregulation strategies and nurture‑based approaches appropriate for early years and KS1.
Administrative & Compliance Support
· Assist the SENCO/Head TeacherwithmaintainingaccurateSEND records.
· Contribute topaperwork forEHCPapplications and annual reviews.
· Help ensure statutory deadlines and documentation requirements are met.
Family & Multi‑AgencyPartnership
· Attend meetings with parents/carers to discuss progress andprovision.
· Liaise with external professionals and help implement their recommendations.
The successful candidate will have:
· Strong understanding of early childhood development and SEND in the early years/KS1.
· Excellent communication andorganisationalskills.
· Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and external agencies.
· Experience delivering targeted interventions.
Knowledge of local authority SEND processes and EHCP pathways is desirable.
