Learning Support Assistant (Fixed-Term, 1 Year Contract)

Are you passionate about making a difference to the lives of children with additional needs?

Trinity Road Primary School is seeking a dedicated, resilient and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our team on a one-year fixed-term contract. You would be working 32.5 hours per week during term time and also on 5 in-set days.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to develop specialist skills in supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs while being part of a highly supportive school community.

Initially, the successful candidate will spend four days per week at Grow, an SEMH provision in Newland Springs, working alongside experienced professionals to support children with a range of social, emotional and behavioural needs. The fifth day each week will be based at Trinity Road Primary School.

As the year progresses, there will be a planned and gradual transition back to Trinity Road, with the expectation that the successful candidate will be working at Trinity Road full-time by the summer term, supporting pupils within our mainstream setting.

What we can offer:

  • A unique opportunity to gain specialist experience within an SEMH provision.
  • High-quality professional development and training.
  • Excellent CPD opportunities that will enhance your understanding of inclusion, behaviour and SEND.
  • A supportive and ambitious staff team committed to professional growth.
  • The opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable children.
  • The potential for the role to become permanent for the right candidate, subject to school needs and performance.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with children in an educational setting.
  • Is passionate about inclusion and helping every child to succeed.
  • Can build positive, trusting relationships with children who may present with social, emotional or behavioural challenges.
  • Is calm, patient and resilient under pressure.
  • Works effectively as part of a team and communicates well with colleagues, families and external professionals.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
