Position Type: Secretary to Headteacher
Employment Type: Permanent Contract
Hours: 18 hours per week (Term Time only)
Salary: Essex School's Pay Scale - Scale 6 Point 14 - 18 - actual starting salary £12,285 - £13,095 per annum (including fringe but excluding pending 2026 pay award)
Working Pattern: 3 days per week - hybrid, to be discussed at interview.
Lee Chapel Primary School & Nursery, rated 'OUTSTANDING' by OFSTED, is looking to appoint an experienced Administrative Assistant/Secretary to help support their busy Headteacher.
The successful candidate will:
- Bring a professional, flexible, and collaborative approach, using their skills and initiative to support the Headteacher with daily school operations.
- Have first-class typing skills of at least 65 wpm (tested at interview).
- Have exceptional attention to detail and experience in proof-reading.
- Have the ability to prioritise their own workload, work quickly and confidently under pressure.
- Be proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office packages, especially Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Duties will include:
- Providing typing and administrative support to the Headteacher.
- Assisting the Headteacher with the management of the school diary (adding diary entries such as meetings, staff appointments, etc.)
- Editing of half-termly 'Good News' and end of year 'Commendation' letters, at the direction of the Headteacher.
- Assisting with the compilation of the weekly Newsletters.
- Proof-reading and editing documents, as directed by the Headteacher.
