We are seeking a caring, patient and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to provide personalised support for a pupil with autism.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, family and external professionals to support the pupil's communication, emotional wellbeing, independence and engagement in school life.

We are looking for someone who understands that every child learns differently and that progress can take many forms. For this pupil, success may initially be seen through increased engagement, communication, emotional regulation, confidence, relationships and independence, as well as academic learning.

Experience of supporting children with autism or other additional needs would be an advantage; however, we welcome applications from candidates who have a genuine interest in supporting children with SEND and who are willing to develop their knowledge and skills through training and support.

The successful applicant will:

• Believe in the potential of every child.

• Be patient, calm and nurturing.

• Enjoy building positive relationships with children.

• Understand that some children need time, consistency and support to feel safe and ready to learn.

• Be able to recognise and celebrate small steps of progress and achievement.

• Be flexible and willing to adapt their approach to meet individual needs.

• Work effectively as part of a team.

• Have strong communication skills.

• Approach challenges with optimism and positivity

• Be willing to undertake relevant SEND and autism training.

Our children are enthusiastic learners who work with staff to provide a supportive and welcoming environment

The school will offer:

· A dynamic and collaborative team of professionals, who work together and are committed to creating an ethos of mutual support whilst providing an effective Catholic education for the children in our communities.

· Commitment to ensure that every child in our community has access to the highest possible standard of education

· Ongoing training and professional development.

· Strong support from senior leaders and the SENCO.

Visits to the school are welcomed and can be arranged by contacting the school office on 012621 856698. Completed application forms should be returned to Elizabeth Chapman on admin@stfrancismaldon.co.uk
