Canonium Learning Trust is seeking reliable, highly organised and professional individuals to join our growing team of governance clerks in supporting Local Governing Committees across our family of primary schools in Essex.

This is a flexible casual role providing clerking and governance support for evening Local Governing Committee meetings within schools located across Chelmsford, Maldon, Braintree, Colchester and Tendring.

Depending on availability and location, you may be allocated to support one or more schools. The expected commitment is approximately 9 hours per meeting cycle, with 3 meetings per school allocation - equating to around 27 hours annually per school. Meetings are generally held in person during the evening.

The role is worked under the direction of the Trust Governance Professional, alongside the Headteachers and Chairs of Local Governing
Committees.

We are looking for individuals who:

  • have strong administrative and organisational skills
  • can produce accurate and professional minutes
  • are confident communicating with senior leaders and committee members
  • can work independently and confidentially
  • are comfortable using Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, and
  • are able to travel to schools across Essex.

Previous governance or clerking experience is desirable but not essential for candidates with strong administration skills and a willingness to learn.

The hourly pay range is £14.35 - £15.06 per hour depending on experience.
