Salary

Subject to experience - unqualified to M6 plus SEN allowance

Hours

38.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year (term time only) plus 3 training days during school holidays

Closing Date

What the PE Teacher role involves

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and inclusive Physical Education lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Promote learner's physical development, confidence, teamwork and enjoyment of sport and physical activity.
  • Assess, monitor and record learner's progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement and improvement.
  • Adapt teaching methods and activities to meet the diverse needs and abilities of all learner's
  • Ensure a safe learning environment by following health and safety policies and managing risk during physical activities
  • Organise and supervise extracurricular sports clubs, competitions and inter-school fixtures
  • Encourage participation in a wide range of sports and promote healthy, active lifestyles.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external organisations
  • Contribute to the development of the PE curriculum and wider school initiatives
  • Take responsibility for the care, maintenance and safe use of sports equipment and facilities
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuing professional development.
  • To adhere to the autism accreditation framework, ensuring appropriate support is embedded for each learner.
  • To comply with and promote to others, the policies and procedures relating to the school, specifically those relating to child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, security confidentiality, and data protection.

What we're looking for

  • We are considering bothUnqualified and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have undertaken an Undergraduate degree in Physical Education or similar field
  • Previous experience, or Qualification/training in special education
  • Proven Knowledge of S.E.N
  • Relevant experience working with students with autism or learning disabilities in an educational setting
  • It is essential that the successful applicant holds a full driving license

Doucecroft School is a specialist co-educational school for children and young people with autism and additional complex needs, age 3 –19 years. Established in 1973, we are experienced and successful in meeting the needs of students with wide-ranging strengths and needs, providing a nurturing environment where students are able to thrive and grow in independence and self-esteem.

Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy are provided on-site by our experienced therapy team.

Doucecroft School is part of Autism Anglia, a regional charity working with children, adults and families affected by Autism.
