Class Teacher - Required from September 2026
MPS/UPS (dependent on experience)
Applications reviewed on receipt - early application strongly encouraged
West Horndon Primary School is looking for an outstanding teacher to join our friendly, vibrant community from September 2026.
The post is likely to be in EYFS or Years 1, 2 or 3, with final placement decided based on the skills, experience and strengths of the successful applicant. As a small school, we value teachers who are flexible and willing to work across phases when needed.
We're a small, unique school with a big heart - a place where children are happy, enthusiastic and eager to learn. Relationships matter here, laughter matters here, and doing the very best for children is always at the centre of what we do.
As an independent maintained school, we are not part of a multi‑academy trust and value the autonomy to shape our practice thoughtfully and purposefully.
We are proud of our strong inclusive ethos, including our resourced provision for speech and language, which enriches practice across the whole school. We also value outdoor learning and making meaningful use of our environment - occasionally shared with our resident ducks and chickens.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has high expectations and a passion for creative, engaging teaching
- Is reflective, adaptable and keen to keep improving their practice
- Brings energy, warmth and a good sense of humour
- Believes strongly in inclusion and putting children first
- Enjoys teamwork and contributing to the wider life of the school
We offer:
- Supportive, motivated staff and a strong community spirit
- Great children who are polite, enthusiastic and love learning
- A school where you can truly grow and flourish as a teacher
- A commitment to innovation, including the introduction of 1:1 iPads from September, designed to enhance learning and reduce teacher workload
- Purposeful learning spaces, including a kitchen classroom, alongside strong outdoor provision
- Amazing lunches… and lots of biscuits!
- Leaders who are approachable, supportive and genuinely care about staff wellbeing
- Whether you are an ECT or an experienced teacher, we would love to hear from you. We offer strong support for early career teachers and meaningful professional development for all staff.
We are committed to staff wellbeing and believe that happy, supported adults create the best outcomes for children.
