We are looking to appoint two dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistants to provide support across the whole school day for a happy, determined, sociable and observant reception pupil with an EHCP, starting September 2026.

The successful candidates will be required to support a pupil who is pre-verbal and has physical needs. This is as a result of their neurological conditions which significantly affect their mobility, co-ordination and self care. In addition they will be required to work closely with a range of other professionals, following advice and therapy plans.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Passionate about supporting pupils with SEND
  • Have experience of supporting pupils with additional needs within a primary classroom
  • Have experience of working with pre-verbal pupils, to support and interpret their intentions
  • Able to follow SaLT plans to develop communication
  • Have excellent communication skills, including IT
  • Patient, flexible and supportive in their approach, showing initiative and an ability to work independently if necessary
  • Able to work in partnership with the family, school staff and other professionals
  • Have a good sense of humour
  • Able to model, engage and motivate children to play co-operatively and learn with peers
  • Able to support children to communicate with each other
  • Have enthusiasm for outdoor play and learning opportunities.

As part of our friendship school, we can offer you:

  • Enthusiastic children, proud of their achievements
  • A creative curriculum approach
  • A talented, hardworking and dedicated team of teaching and support staff
  • A school with excellent facilities and extensive grounds
  • A happy, caring environment in which all members of the school community are valued.

We welcome candidates to visit our school and this is strongly advised. The SENCo will also talk to interested candidates.

Please contact Mrs Gill Powell, School Business Manager at gpowell@boreham.essex.sch.uk or alternatively telephone 01245 467625.

Due to the number of applications received, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted once the advertisement is closed.

Following safer recruitment procedures, the successful applicant will be subject to satisfactory references, medical checks and enhanced DBS checks.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
