Glenwood School is expanding and seeking a skilled, committed ASD Class Teacher to join our team. Our work is grounded in recognising each learner's strengths, interests and identity, and providing education that is both aspirational and meaningful for autistic young people and their families.

We are looking for a teacher who understands autism as a different neurotype and can design structured, motivating and personalised learning. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality, neuro‑affirming practice.

This role requires initiative, reflection, and strong interpersonal skills. We welcome applications from both newly qualified and experienced teachers.

Leading Teaching and Learning

  • Lead your class team to deliver structured, responsive and personalised teaching.
  • Create a neuro‑affirming environment that supports communication, wellbeing, sensory regulation and independence.
  • Model high‑quality teaching and maintain high expectations.
  • Develop strengths‑based, interest‑led learning pathways.
  • Use observation, family insight and multidisciplinary input to understand learners' needs.
  • Lead meaningful Annual Reviews focused on ambitious outcomes.
  • Collaborate with communication specialists and therapists to embed consistent strategies.
  • Record progress clearly, reflecting academic and personal development.


Developing Self and Others

  • Support a positive, reflective team culture.
  • Contribute to induction, coaching and ongoing staff development.
  • Share specialist knowledge with your team.
  • Participate fully in professional learning and appraisal.

Shaping the Future

  • Propose ideas that strengthen ASD provision.
  • Contribute to problem‑solving for complex needs.
  • Review and refine practice as part of school improvement.

Securing Accountability

  • Promote safeguarding and wellbeing in all aspects of practice.
  • Support monitoring and reporting to maintain high standards.

Strengthening Community

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with families.
  • Work collaboratively with external professionals.
  • Lead and participate in meetings to secure positive outcomes for learners.
