Are you passionate about supporting children and families to thrive? Broomgrove Junior School, a welcoming rural primary school with 230 pupils, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Liaison and Pastoral Lead to join our team.


As our school's Designated Safeguarding Lead, you'll play a crucial role in keeping our pupils safe, while building strong relationships with families and providing much-needed social and emotional support to our children. This is a key role at the heart of our school, helping to nurture a positive, inclusive and supportive environment for every child. You will be at the heart of our pastoral provision, leading on family engagement, safeguarding, and social-emotional support.


The successful candidate will be: the Designated Safeguarding Lead, providing ELSA support to pupils, leading TPP (Trauma Perceptive Practice) and will also be the point of contact between the school and Tendring Families First in relation to referrals. Training can be provided for these areas, if needed.

  • Someone with experience supporting children and families, ideally in an education setting
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and pastoral care
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • A resilient, flexible, and caring approach
  • Experience of supporting pupils with social and emotional interventions
  • Experience of identifying need and making referrals to support those needs
  • Experience of working with external agencies

Our school is located in the beautiful village of Wivenhoe, on the outskirts of Colchester. Our pupils are aged 7-11, ranging from Year 3 to Year 6, and mainly live in the area surrounding the school.
