Cover Supervisor - Part time
Job description:
We are looking to recruit a Cover Supervisor to supervise whole classes of KS3 & 4 students during the short-term absence of teachers. The maximum class sizes at Gosfield is 22. You may well be asked to undertake other duties pertaining to the school if you are not covering a lesson.
You will have daily contact with pupils and staff, therefore experience of working with young people is essential. You must have the ability to relate effectively to all adults and pupils in our school.
Successful candidates must be confident in setting high expectations of conduct in the classroom. Experience is highly desirable.

Hours: 22.5 per week
8:20am to 1:10pm with a 20 min unpaid break

Duties
- Supervise classes across various subjects, maintaining discipline and promoting positive behaviour
- Implement lesson plans provided by the absent teacher
- Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to teaching staff as required
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times within the classroom
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents when necessary
Experience
- Prior experience working with children or young people is desirable
- Knowledge of special education needs (SEN), including working with individuals with disabilities or autism, is advantageous
- Experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring roles will be highly regarded
- Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to diverse student needs are essential
- Creative writing skills can be beneficial in engaging students and supporting literacy development
- Previous experience in a supervisory role within an educational environment is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for suitable candidates interested in developing their skills further
