Join us in shaping confident, motivated and successful learners.

Are you passionate about helping young people thrive? Do you want a role where every day you can make a meaningful difference to learners' attendance, wellbeing and progress? Chelmsford College is expanding its central Personal Tutor Team and we're looking for committed, proactive individuals to join us.

As a Personal Tutor, you will be a key figure in our learners' experience - building relationships, removing barriers, and helping students feel supported, safe and ready to learn. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team at a college that puts pastoral care and personal development at the heart of its mission.

What You'll Do

Lead daily attendance monitoring and follow-up within a dedicated protected window
Provide immediate, personalised communication with learners and families
Carry out welfare checks, early interventions and link up with teams for barrier-removal support
Deliver high-quality Life Skills and Personal Tutorial sessions
Maintain accurate pastoral records, ensuring consistency across the department
Work within a supportive buddy system to ensure full pastoral coverage

Why Join Us?

This is a pivotal moment for Chelmsford College. With the growth of our provision, we are strengthening our pastoral structures to ensure learners receive exceptional support, every day.

As part of our central Personal Tutor Team, you will:

Play a central role in improving attendance, punctuality and learner engagement
Build strong, trusted relationships that enhance wellbeing, confidence and belonging
Contribute to a consistent and professional pastoral model across the college

What We're Looking For

We'd love to hear from you if you are:

A strong communicator, confident building rapport with young people and families
Organised, reliable and able to follow clear processes
Compassionate, calm and solution-focused when supporting learners
Passionate about personal development, wellbeing and inclusion
Enthusiastic about working in a team where no day is the same
Experience in education, youth work, mentoring, coaching or pastoral support is beneficial, but what matters most is your commitment to making a positive impact.

Why Chelmsford College?

A friendly, ambitious organisation committed to learner success
A supportive Learner Experience team with shared values and strong leadership
Opportunities for professional development and progression
A chance to contribute to real and meaningful change across the college

Ready to Make a Difference?

If you're motivated by helping young people overcome challenges and achieve their potential, we want to hear from you.

The College is committed to equality and diversity and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff to share these commitments. This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.
