Job Title: HR Assistant
Pay Scale:Band B - Band D, negotiable,depending on experience
Hours: 37 hrs per week;
Monday to Thursday 8am - 4pm
Friday 8am - 3.30pm
Term time plus 1 week per year (1 extra paid week after 5 years of service)

The Trust:InMarch 2025 Treetops School was judged by Ofsted to havemaintainedthe standardsidentifiedat thepreviousinspection.Thepreviousinspection was in February 2020, at which time Treetops was judged as Outstanding. Treetops Free School, which officially opened in September 2022, was judged Good in its first Ofsted inspection in March 2024.
Students throughoutTreetopsLearning Community have complex needs varying from moderate to severe learning difficulties, which mayinclude;speech and communication difficulties,autismand global developmental delay.
The Role:We areseekingto appoint an experienced HR assistant to join our busy admin team.The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a fast-paced office environment and will be committed to being part of a school promoting an inclusive and positive environment for children with a variety of special needs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Recruitment & Safer Recruitment
- Support recruitment processes, including drafting job adverts, arranging interviews, and issuing offer letters.
- Ensure compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance.
- Process DBS checks via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
- Maintain the Single Central Record (SCR).
- Verify right to work documentation in line with UK regulations.
2. HR Administration
- Prepare contracts, amendment to contract letters, and probation documentation.
- Maintainaccurateand confidential personnel files (electronic and paper).
- Update staff records on the school's HR system (e.g. Arbor).
- Monitor staff absence and support absence management processes, including meetings with staff.
- Assistwith maternity, paternity, adoption, and flexible working requests.
- Provide HR-related advice and first-line support to staff.
- Prepare reports and HR data as requested.
3. Payroll & Pensions Support
- Advisepayroll providers of starters, leavers, and contractual changes.
4. Work experience and volunteering
- Co-ordinate work experience and voluntary placements
4. Staff Attendance
- Monitor staff attendance
- Conduct welfare meetings with staff
- Manage andsubmitOccupational Health Referrals
5. General Administration
- Provide general administrative support as part of the school office team.
- Cover school reception whenrequired.
- Undertake fire marshal duties.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the line manager.
