Spring Meadow Primary School -The Harbour
SEMH Teacher
The Harbour is an SEMH provision supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Our aim is to create a nurturing, structured and inclusive learning environment where every young person feels safe, supported and able to achieve their full potential.

We are looking for a passionate, resilient and inclusive qualified teacher to lead our Local Authority commissioned SEMH provision. The successful candidate will have the ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and create an engaging learning environment that supports both academic progress and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging and adapted learning opportunities that meet the individual needs and support children with SEMH
- Create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
- Support pupils to develop emotional regulation, resilience and positive attitudes
- Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants and pastoral staff
- Monitor and assess pupil progress and contribute to individual learning plans and EHCP reviews
- Build strong relationships with pupils, families and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Demonstrates proven experience in teaching pupils with additional needs, challenging behaviour, or SEMH
- Is patient, resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations
- Has strong classroom management and behaviour support skills
- Understands SEMH needs and trauma-informed approaches
- Has the ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may be disengaged from education
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills
- Is committed to inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners
- Has experience working in a special school, PRU, or alternative provision
- Has experience supporting pupils with EHCPs
- Is trained in behaviour management strategies and an understanding of relational practice
- Has the ability to lead a team of SEMH Learning Support Assistants
- Has a willingness to deliver out-reach to support children with SEMH
