Position: Learning Support Assistant

Grade of pay: Scale 3 Points 6-7 (£25,989 - £26,403 - full time equivalent) - pay award pending

Contract Term: Fixed Term to 20th July 2026

Start date: Tuesday 13th April 2026. We appreciate that the successful candidate may have to give notice and we can work around this.

Contracted hours - 27.5 hours per week. Monday - Friday, 9am - 3pm.

A vacancy has arisen within our primary school for an enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant to join our friendly and hard-working team.

We are looking to appoint a person who can use their own initiative and has a firm understanding of inclusion. Experience of working with children is desirable, however for the right candidate we would be prepared to offer support and training. The role will involve working with children in whole class setting, in small groups and on a one-to-one basis with children with SEND.

You will:

- Be an excellent communicator dedicated to bringing out the best in our children

- Be good at problem solving, open minded and willing to try new strategies

- Demonstrate positive consistent behaviour management

- Be interested in learning and developing

St John’s school is a one-form-entry primary school situated in Danbury, which is a picturesque friendly village community 6 miles to the east of Chelmsford. The school has extensive grounds, an all-weather running track, an indoor swimming pool and good facilities which are used to the full by the children through the curriculum, clubs and sporting activities. We have strong links with local churches and the community. There is a Pre-School nursery in our grounds which operates independently of us but has strong links. The Parents’ and Friends Association is very active and contributes significantly to the life of the school.
