Glenwood School is entering a period of continued growth and is seeking a skilled and committed PMLD Class Teacher to join our team. Our teachers play a central role in identifying and supporting the unique strengths of every learner, enabling meaningful communication, engagement, and progress.
We are looking for a reflective practitioner with a strong understanding of highly individualised pathways, sensory-led learning, and effective problem-solving. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of educators and therapists to provide high-quality, holistic support for learners with complex needs.
This position requires creativity, professionalism, and the ability to recognise and celebrate small but significant steps in progress. We welcome applications from both newly qualified and experienced teachers and offer ongoing support, professional development, and mentoring.
Leading teaching and learning
· Deliver responsive, sensory-rich, and personalised teaching.
· Lead the class team with a focus on creativity, curiosity, and communication.
· Model high-quality practice and promote ambitious expectations.
· Ensure planning is fully individualised and adapt approaches as needed.
· Use insights from families, therapists, evidence, and observation to inform teaching.
· Contribute effectively to Annual Reviews and strengthen family partnerships.
· Work with therapists and health professionals to deliver integrated support.
· Record progress accurately and respectfully for learners with PMLD.
Developing self and others
· Foster a collaborative and supportive class-team culture.
· Contribute to staff and trainee induction and development.
· Lead by example and recognise the strengths of team members.
· Participate fully in appraisal and professional learning.
Shaping the future
· Explore and apply innovative approaches to PMLD pedagogy.
· Offer ideas that enhance learner experiences and whole-school practice.
· Promote creativity, curiosity, and ambitious learning for all.
Securing accountability
· Uphold health, safety, wellbeing, and safeguarding responsibilities.
· Contribute to reporting on learner progress and school performance.
Strengthening community
· Work in partnership with families to maintain a shared understanding of each learner's journey.
· Build positive relationships with therapists and external partners.
· Attend and lead meetings as required to support learner outcomes.
