About the role:

The Trust is looking to appoint an outstanding practitioner and leader who is ready for the next step to further develop their leadership skills with ambitions to progress to into Senior Leadership in the future. The position is suitable for an experienced practitioner with a proven track record to enthuse and guide a proactive Faculty, and someone who is ambitious and highly motivated. We are looking to appoint an exceptional candidate to be responsible for the implementation of key strategies and policies to secure continued school improvement. We are looking for someone who puts students first, proactively focuses on the development, sharing and monitoring of best practice to help across the faculty.The appointed person will be supported by a Deputy Head of Science and will line manage the Head of Computing/I-Media. The Science Department offers Triple and Combined Science at Key Stage 4.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent, inspiring class teacher with a proven track record of strong student progress, and with a passion to make a difference for all our students. The role involves working closely with the senior leadership team to lead and be accountable for key aspects identified in the job description such as (but not exhaustive).

· Science & I-Media

· To effectively lead and manage the Curriculum Area.

· To be a role model for outstanding classroom practice.

· Ensure that students achieve to the best of their potential.

· Use data effectively to identify areas of improvement and strategically plan appropriate interventions.

· Support other Curriculum Area members to use data effectively to identify areas of improvement and plan and execute challenging and adapted lessons.

· Maintain high academic standards.

· Generate and maintain enthusiasm for the subject(s) in both students and staff.

· Nurture a team ethos within the Curriculum Area which is mutually challenging and supportive.

· Maintain a curriculum which is appropriate, challenging and inspirational.

· Develop and maintain schemes of learning and resources that support the teaching of the curriculum.

· Monitor, quality assure, implement early interventions and support improvement through a variety development strategies.

The successful candidate will be a key point of contact for all staff, families and relevant stakeholders, and organisational skills are key. They will be actively encouraged and supported to engage with high quality CPD as part of this role.
