We are looking to recruit a Caretaker/Site Manager to provide a professional caretaking service to the school.

The successful candidate will be energetic, enthusiastic, reliable and self-motivated. The role will involve a range of general tasks including buildings/grounds maintenance and cleaning, painting, porterage, security, liaison with contractors and suppliers, maintaining health and safety procedures and line management of cleaning team.

We are looking for someone who is

  • Friendly, approachable and a team player
  • A good communicator who is able to liaise effectively with a range of people including governors, staff, children, parents and visitors
  • Able to take pride in the appearance and condition of our school, both internally and externally
  • Able to respond to incidents around the school such as clearing up spillages, unblocking toilets etc
  • Excellent at DIY, painting, repairs and general maintenance
  • Experienced and knowledgeable about health and safety regulations and procedures or willing to undertake training
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage own workload


This is a full time (52 weeks per year) position and the successful candidate will be required to work their 30 hours in term time on a split shift from 7.00am - 9.00am and 2.30pm - 6.30pm Monday to Friday and a non-split shift in school holiday periods. There will also be occasions when the job holder will be required to work longer hours on an overtime basis.

Annual leave entitlement is 25 days, plus 8 bank holidays. (Annual leave is to be taken by arrangement with Management and normally during closure periods only)

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
