We are looking for a highly flexible, enthusiastic, and conscientious Learning Support Assistant (LSA) with excellent communication skills and a proactive, solution-focused approach (a 'can-do' attitude). The successful candidate must be confident working independently while also contributing collaboratively to the wider school team.
Core Responsibilities
The LSA will play a crucial role in enhancing the learning and well-being of our pupils by:
Delivering targeted support to develop core literacy and numeracy skills in individuals and small groups. Supporting the teacher by preparing resources and assisting with the delivery and evaluation of learning activities.
Building strong, positive relationships with pupils to effectively support their pastoral and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.
Promoting positive pupil behaviour in line with school policies, helping pupils maintain focus and self-regulation. Championing inclusion by ensuring pupils with special needs are fully integrated, adapting lessons through clarification, explanation, and targeted resources.
Acting as a consistent role model, demonstrating high expectations and reinforcing the school's values and ethos in all interactions.
What Makes Our School a Great Place to Work?
We are proud to offer our team members:
The rewarding experience of working with enthusiastic, engaged, and eager-to-learn children.
A professional, positive, and highly supportive learning environment committed to your growth.
The benefit of joining a friendly and welcoming school team dedicated to collaboration.
Next Steps: We strongly encourage all interested candidates to arrange a school visit or an informal phone call to discuss the role in more detail.
To apply, please complete an application form available on the Essex School Jobs website. We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible. The closing date is therefore subject to change, and we encourage early applications as we may interview and appoint before the advertised deadline. A degree of flexibility on the start date may be considered for the right candidate. While this is initially a maternity cover role (until August 2026), it may lead to a permanent position.
