SEND Learning Support Assistant - Fixed term

Role 1: Fixed Term

Hours:8:45am-11:45am (15 hours per week)
Salary:Scale 3 Point 6
Contract:Fixed-term until July 2026 (linked to funding)

In addition to this role we are looking for absence cover for our Breakfast Club on Thursday and Friday mornings 07:45-8:45am. This role will be discussed at interview.

Hours:9am - 11am (10 hours per week) plus 13.05-15.15pm (10.83 hours per week)

In addition to this role would like the candidate to run our after school club on Wednesday and Friday afternoons 15:15-16:15pm. This role will be discussed at interview.

Holt Farm Infant School is a happy, nurturing, and inclusive community where every child is valued and supported to achieve their very best. We are looking forcompassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistantsto join our friendly and inclusive team and support children with complex SEND needs within our Early Years and Key Stage 1 settings. You will work on a 1:1 basis with children in EYFS and KS1, and will form part of a collaborative and forward thinking inclusion team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN to help them access and enjoy all areas of the curriculum under the direction of the teacher and SENDco.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering tailored learning activities.
  • Implement planned learning activities, adapting them as needed to suit pupil responses.
  • Promote inclusion within the classroom and beyond, ensuring all children can access learning.
  • Record observations and progress to help inform planning.
  • Provide support with children's social, emotional, and welfare needs (including minor first aid and intimate care).
  • Adapt approaches to meet individual needs.
  • Observe, monitor, and record progress, feeding back to class teachers and the SENCo.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all children feel safe and valued.
  • Work closely with parents, teachers, and external professionals to support children's development.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working with young children, particularly those with additional needs and children with ASD.
  • Be confident working 1:1 and using their initiative to adapt support to the child's needs.
  • Build strong partnerships with colleagues and families to ensure consistent support.
  • Have a positive attitude, good sense of humour, and a creative approach to learning.
  • Be enthusiastic, patient, and able to make learningfun and engaging.
  • A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or special needs support is desirable.
  • Good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills. GCSE Grades A-C in Maths and English.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to helping every child thrive.
