Pastoral Manager Years 7-11

Essex 2024 Scale 6, Point 13-17 ( £24,773 - £26,441 pa actual)

Part time, Permanent

Term time plus 3 days (INSET/Holiday working to be determined upon appointment)

8.00 - 4.00 pm (30 minutes unpaid lunch each day) (early finish 1 day per week to be agreed with Line Manager)

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed individual to join our team offering support to thestudents in Years 7-11.

The successful candidate will also promote the ethos of the school, with regard to standards of behaviour, dress code, punctuality and attendance.

VISION AND PURPOSE:

  • To monitor and provide pastoral care to year groups 7-11.
  • To enable all students to engage in education by providing support around student welfare, behavioural and attendance Issues.
  • To be point of contact for parents/carers in relation to pastoral and behavioural issues for years 7-11, involving relevant staff members as necessary.
  • To support and carry out duties as instructed by the Heads of Year from Year 7 through to Year 11.
  • To support with transition events and visits to primary schools.

MAIN CORE DUTIES:

Pastoral

  • Uphold the School's vision and values for pastoral care.
  • Adhere to the school's policy, practice and procedures in relation to pastoral care, ensuring that systems, expectations and protocols are followed, providing an environment where students are supported, and pastoral needs are met.
  • Promote the ethos of the school regarding standards of behaviour, dress code, punctuality and attendance.
  • Work with staff, parents/carers and students to address barriers to learning.
  • Develop supportive relationships with students.
  • Take a proactive approach to identify students who need guidance and support.
  • Act as the lead point of contact for parents/carers in relation to pastoral care.
  • Build and maintain positive relations with parents/carers to encourage family involvement in their child's progress, behaviour and attendance.
  • Where necessary, hold conversations or carry out investigations into concerns raised or incidents occurring.
  • Communicate with parents/carers following behavioural incidents to discuss the effectiveness of the support in place for their child.
  • Work with the Attendance Officer to monitor and implement strategies to improve the attendance of students who are on targeted interventions.
  • Work with the SENCO to identify students in need of additional intervention.
  • Liaise with external support agencies and professionals as required, to cater for students' individual needs.
  • Set up and supervise support groups where necessary.
  • Support the Primary Liaison lead with all transition events and visits as necessary.
  • Keep up to date with relevant training and build and refresh knowledge on the range of external support available to support students' individual needs.
  • Work in line with the statutory safeguarding guidance (e.g. Keeping Children Safe in Education, Prevent) and our safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Promote the safeguarding of all students in the school.
  • Work with the designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to promote the best interests of students, including sharing concerns where necessary.
  • Assist in the organisation and running of school events such as: Open Evenings, Parents' Evenings, Award Ceremonies, Options Evenings, Work Experience, in the writing of Year 11 references, and attending parental meetings as required.

MAIN CORE DUTIES:

Administration

  • Maintain accurate records of interventions and relevant meetings.
  • Facilitate the transfer of relevant student information inside and outside the school.
  • Complete relevant paperwork required by external agencies.
