Job Overview:

At USP College, we are seeking a dedicated Teacher of English to deliver high-quality, creative, and engaging lessons while effectively supporting and inspiring our students. The role involves providing focused tuition to GCSE resit students, with an emphasis on Functional Skills.

As a key member of our dynamic, supportive, and welcoming team, you will motivate students to reach their full potential while fostering a positive and focused learning environment. Joining the English curriculum team, you will bring subject expertise and a passion for inspiring students to exceed their aspirations.

You will work collaboratively with experienced colleagues, regularly sharing and observing best practices to enhance teaching strategies and reflect on pedagogy. Building strong, supportive relationships with students, you will guide them toward achieving their long-term career goals. By leveraging your expertise and emotional intelligence, you will help remove barriers to student progress and provide the necessary tools, support, and challenges to drive their success.

The Role:


We are seeking a passionate and innovative Teacher to provide high-quality teaching and contribute to the academic, pastoral, and operational excellence of the curriculum area. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on learners' educational journeys while contributing to the realisation of the College's mission.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching aligned with curriculum needs and student requirements.
  • Actively promote the College's Career-Focused Learning strategy, fostering strong relationships with local employers.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons, ensuring compliance with curriculum schemes of work and College policies.
  • Monitor, report, and support student progress through reviews, assessments, and feedback.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, policy discussions, and quality assurance processes.
  • Participate in student recruitment, including interviews and open events.
  • Provide academic and pastoral support to students, promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Ensure effective supervision of learners, adhering to safety and safeguarding policies.
  • Actively engage in professional development, curriculum meetings, and CPD days.
  • Take responsibility for managing and prioritising learner concerns and issues.

Job Requirements:

Essential:

  • Degree in the relevant subject or similar

  • Expertise in relevant subject area

  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for innovative pedagogical practices.

  • Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse range of students and stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Teaching qualification (USP will provide support for unqualified staff to achieve a Level 5 qualification)
  • Experience in curriculum development, employer engagement, and course leadership.

The right candidate will have:

  • Ability to relate well to students and staff, balancing support and challenge to maximise achievement.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Creative and lateral thinking skills to promote campus growth and enhance learning experiences.
  • Proven ability to resolve conflicts professionally and ensure student welfare.
