Role:English & Reading Intervention Tutor

Contract:PERMANENT

Hours:37 a week

Salary:Scale 6 points 13-17 - Actual annual salary (£24,144.00 - £25,770.00). Starting point 13, depending on years' service and experience

We have an exciting opportunity to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and organised English and Reading intervention tutor. You will work under the direction of the Head of English to plan and deliver a range of high-level specialist interventions to individual or small groups of pupils who are underachieving in English or require support with Reading.

What you'll need to succeed:

Excellent communication
A positive 'can-do' attitude, inclusive values and a great sense of humour!
A team player
Be able to run appropriate small group interventions
Good organisational skills
Duties involved:

Assess the needs of pupils and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support pupils' learning in English and Reading.
Ensure that pupils' understanding is developed through the careful use of, for example, subject specific language and use of skilled questioning, explaining, modelling and re-shaping of tasks.
Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence.

The Boswells School is a large 11-18 secondary school that serves the area of north Chelmsford. The school is an extremely popular, over-subscribed convertor academy that enjoys an excellent reputation in the local and wider community. We were graded ‘Good’ in every area by OFSTED in February 2017 and are working towards our goal of becoming a truly great school.
