As part of the Rayleigh Schools Trust, Glebe Primary School is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, effective and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant and Learning Support Assistant with excellent organisational skills and a good rapport with children to join our successful team with the opportunity to work with colleagues across the trust.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and flexible specialist assistant to work with young deaf pupils. This post is working with Nursery children up to the end of Key Stage 2 within the Resource base and Mainstream classes.
The role of HLTA is to work across the Resource Base to provide cover during PPA or when teachers are absent from school. Primarily you will provide learning and communication support for deaf pupils ensuring their inclusion in the classroom and on the playground. You will also carry out intervention sessions within the Resource Base, under the guidance of a Specialist Teacher of the Deaf, supporting individuals or small groups of children.
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Meets the Higher Level Teaching Assistant standards or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Have excellent numeracy/literacy skills - educated to a minimum of GCSE C in maths and English
- Can use ICT effectively
- Have a working knowledge and experience of implementing national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes/strategies
- Cache level 2 or NVQ level 3 or above and be committed to train to BSL level 2 or have BSL level 2 and be committed to gain the qualifications
- A strong work ethic and the ability to work as part of a team
- Excellent Deaf awareness skills
- Flexibility to use BSL, "voice-on" SSE or oral communication as appropriate
- The ability to build good relationships with staff and pupils with a positive and enthusiastic, calm manner
