Hours: Monday - Friday 8.45am - 12.45pm (20 hours per week, term time only)

The Role

We are looking for a passionate and resilient Learning Support Assistant (LSA) who will play a pivotal role, providing support to our young people. You will work closely with young people to inspire confidence, encourage learning, and foster their social and emotional development. This is a dynamic, hands-on position where you will support the delivery of lessons across a range of subjects, support young people on a one-to-one and small-group basis in achieving their educational goals, and guide them through their personal development journey.

As a key member of the team, you will actively support teaching staff in all lessons, adapting to the diverse needs of the young people and ensuring learning is engaging and accessible for everyone. You will bring versatility to your role, assisting teaching various subjects to meet the curriculum and individual learning plans while providing a consistent, nurturing presence to help them overcome challenges and succeed. This role requires creativity flexibility and genuine passion for supporting young people with SEN, enabling them to grow academically, socially, and emotionally in a safe and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored support to students with SEN and SEMH needs in a therapeutic learning environment.
Assist with differentiated learning activities to meet individual student needs.
Assist with the development and preparation of teaching resources and activities, as well as the set up and organising of equipment.
Deliver 1:1 interventions with instruction from teaching staff.
Build positive, trusting relationships to promote emotional regulation and confidence.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SLT, and external agencies to deliver a holistic educational experience.
Communicate regularly and effectively with parents, carers and the local authorities and other stakeholders
Provide feedback on student progress and contribute to reports as required.
Support students with personal and social development, encouraging independence and resilience.
Maintain a safe and structured learning environment.

About You:
Experience working with young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs (desirable but not essential).
A compassionate, patient, and non-judgemental approach.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
An understanding of trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to education (or a willingness to learn).
Ability to remain calm under pressure and use positive behaviour strategies.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Information about the School

Coggeshall Road is an alternative provider of specialist education who work therapeutically with young people.

We specifically work with young people aged between 12 and 17 who are struggling to engage at school, at home and in the community. We support young people with neurodivergent needs and who are struggling to access education due to difficulties with; ASD with co morbid anxiety, those with a PDA profile and sensory processing disorder.

ADHD, specific learning difficulties, Gender dysphoria, Low mood, self-esteem difficulties, worry, rumination and intrusive thoughts. Anxiety disorders, including Selective Mutism, OCD, GAD, School Phobia, Social Anxiety and Separation Anxiety.

We combine therapeutic approaches and a negotiated curriculum to empower the young person and promote social re-engagement.
