Learning Support Assistant

Pay: LGS Scale 3 Point 4-5

Actual Salary: £14,441 - £14,731

Hours/Weeks: 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time only plus INSET days. )

The start for this post is 1st September 2022

Due to the continuing growth of the school, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a caring individual to become a member of our SEND team. Your role will be to support students with various SEND needs to provide specialist provisions to overcome their barriers to learning.

Paxman Academy opened to Year 7 students in September 2019 and is a co-educational, fully comprehensive 11-16 Academy with a PAN of 180. It is a heavily oversubscribed school which is held in high regard in the community.

The role will involve:

● Working with individuals or small groups of children in collaboration with teaching staff;

● Proactively supporting students with activities designed to enhance numeracy and literacy;

● Supporting SEN students in gaining the ability to utilise IT in the classroom;

● Promoting positive behaviour, raising esteem and encouraging an aspirational culture;

● Working with SEN students to foster their development as independent learners.

We're looking for you if you have:

● A good standard of education (ideally Maths/English GCSE grade A* to C or equivalent);

● A commitment to high standards of achievement from students and yourself;

● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to act on your own initiative;
