Fixed Term Learning Support/Mentor - To provide additional support to a complex child for the duration of their education at Thriftwood College as well as generalised classroom support for our learners

Required: ASAP
Scale 4, Point 6 (range 6-7)
30.58 hours per week/39 school working weeks per annum to include Inset Days
Actual Salary: £14,238.00 to £14,713.00 (pro-rata) depending on experience and length of service
Paid Leave: 5.6 to 6.2 weeks per annum, depending on length of service (the successful applicant will work each week of term time including non pupil days)

Thriftwood College is a vibrant and outstanding Special School where the wellbeing and achievement of every pupil is our priority. The role of Learning Mentor enables students to work towards overcoming social, emotional and learning difficulties which act as barriers to learning. They bridge academic and pastoral support roles ensuring that individual pupils and students participate more effectively in their own learning and prepare them well for adult life and independent living. The barriers to learning can be wide ranging and often very personal to the individual pupil. A young person may be going through complex transitions and changes in their own lives, within the family or at college. Learning Mentors help to identify these issues and help them to address what it is that is getting in the way of their learning.

The role includes:

· To provide support to an ASD student with a range of learning and behavioural needs.

· Offering 'hover' support during lessons and one to one mentoring as required

· Establishing relationship with parents to ensure continuity of approach
