LEARNING MENTOR
Required ASAP
Salary Band 4 (Point range 12-20)
30 hours 50 mins week (Monday - Friday) 8:30-4:00 as a guide but flexibility needed
39 weeks (term time + 5 training days)
Actual salary range £12,664-£16,015
We are looking to appoint a Learning Mentor who will be able to provide practical advice and support to students on an individual basis, particularly in respect of planning and resources and where necessary provide emotional support and encouragement to enable him/her to achieve targets set.
Main duties will be:-
-To work in partnership with staff and parents to identify and address pupil concerns.
-Receive instruction and guidance from the Learning Support Manager/SENCo/Teacher regarding the academic targets to be set for each pupil.
-Maintain daily contact with assigned pupils - to support, assist and enable them to meet the targets set and develop the attitude and skills to meet targets with less support.
-To encourage pupils to develop social and independence skills whilst providing support when it is needed.
-Establish and maintain appropriate records of the pupils' progress and investigate, as appropriate, the cause of any failure to meet targets set.
-Monitor attendance using school records and investigate the reasons for any absences.
-Regularly review pupils against the targets set and advise staff accordingly.
-Work in partnership with other practitioners to deliver effective interventions and support for children and families.
-Report pupil and school issues in line with the School's policies for health and safety, child protection, behaviour management etc.
-Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
-Be involved in extra curricular activities eg. Open days, presentation evenings.
The successful candidate will have:
-Maths and English qualifications equivalent to GSCE grade C or above
-Be committed to developing the whole child
-Be committed to working as part of a team
