The Ongar Academy is a school with a strong STEM focus where Yr 7 students will study Mathematics every day. We are a brand new non fee-paying 11-18 mixed community school opening in Ongar in September 2015. Built on the principle of offering opportunity for all to achieve at the very highest level, this school will be an amazing place to learn and to teach.
Our motto 'Affectare ad Optimum' translates as 'Aspire to Greatness' and that is precisely what you will be doing alongside our inspiring Headteacher, our parents and the initial intake of 120 Year 7 students. With the new Sixth Form opening in 2017, we will grow gradually and organically to our full roll of 800 students over the next few years.
We are progressing well with our plans and are currently finalising proposals with the Education Funding Agency to build our brand new facilities. All staff will have a say on how this state of the art building will be designed; we intend to champion STEM subjects and particularly, Mathematics.
An outstanding practitioner, your mastery of the subject will be matched by your passion for raising attainment and ability to inspire excellence in students and colleagues alike. This is a school with high expectations and these expectations will be shared by our founding staff team. Ambitious and committed to improve, there will be an expectation for you to take advantage of the career and development opportunities that only a new school can offer.
The Headteacher and Governing Body are committed to supporting you at every stage, providing you with appropriate CPD and remuneration that only the best in their field should command. We want the best teachers for our students and champions of the subject to engage and enthuse the generations to come. You have the chance to join us in what promises to be an extraordinary journey for all involved.
