Pastoral/ Safeguarding Co-ordinator
Term-time role, 8.45am - 3.30pm with some flexibility required including some work outside school hours
This is an exciting opportunity to do a unique job which is at the heart of our school's life and ethos. Whilst experience and qualifications in these areas are helpful, training will be given, and we seek applications from candidates dedicated to and skilled in supporting the wellbeing of pupils, families and the school community. Candidates will need to be excellent and gentle communicators, approachable to all, problem-solvers, patient, flexible, kind and willing 'to go the extra mile'.
Key aspects of the role:
· Manage and contribute to the pastoral care and safeguarding of all pupils and monitoring all vulnerable pupils according to their needs
· Proactively engage in communication with parents, staff and pupils concerning pastoral and safeguarding issues and to liaise with school leaders as and when appropriate
· Liaise with other relevant professionals and outside agencies (such as social workers and Family Solutions) and provide and request information about pupils as appropriate
· Prioritise and organise pupils for pastoral interventions of counselling, Drawing and Talking therapy and other pastoral activities
· Lead therapeutic interventions
· Plan, organise and implement interventions to develop emotional resilience
· Encourage and motivate pupils' involvement in the opportunities both curricular and extra-curricular
· To manage transition for vulnerable pupils for those coming to and those leaving the school
· To ensure safeguarding records and records for vulnerable pupils are kept up to date, including our online CPOMS system, and that records are transferred to/received from schools in a timely manner
Attendance
· Liaise with school attendance provision on a regular basis
· Promote regular attendance and punctuality, actively dealing with both, and supporting the raising of attendance for pupils who are persistent absentees
