School Administration Assistant

Part time - Permanent 25 hours per week (hours to be confirmed)

Salary is Essex Pay Range Scale 3 point 5 £19650pro rata for 25 hours (actual £11352) to start 1st September 2022.

Chatten Free School is a relatively new school which opened in Witham in September 2021and is a specialist day free school for children and young people who are severely affected by autism and associated learning difficulties.

Our purpose is to make a positive and tangible difference in the lives of our pupils both in their present and for their future. About the role

This is a key role within the school and a great opportunity to join a friendly, hard-working team in supporting the efficient day-to-day running of the School. Reporting to the Office Manage you will undertake a range of administrative tasks including Reception, Attendance, Data Management, and general office duties as summarised below.

For more information, please see the attached job description for more information however below are some of the tasks required for this role:

Be the first point of contact for the school.

Respond to telephone calls and emails.
Maintain computerised and manual records for pupils.
Maintain and monitor attendance records.
Provide administration services as required.
Have knowledge of GDPR procedures.
Support the production of statutory reports.
Be aware of responsibilities and duties regarding Child Protection and Safeguarding.
Undertake training as required.
About you

You will have good organisational skills, a friendly telephone manner and be proficient in the use of ICT, experience of working in a school or office environment is preferred but not essential as is the use of SIMS. You will also be able to communicate on all levels as you will be interacting with the pupils, staff, parents, and carers.

You will be expected to follow guidance but also work using your own initiative.

We are a specialist day free school in Witham, Essex working with children and young people who are severely affected by their autism and associated learning difficulties. Our pupils are ages 4-19. Most of our pupils are pre-vocal or in the early stages of developing communicative skills.

We believe that through a consistent and individualised curriculum, using effective and evidence based learning techniques we can ensure that our pupils leave us as independent as possible and with life-long socially significant skills which will enable them to access the world around them in a rich and meaningful way.

We have high expectations of our pupils and believe that they can achieve great things. Our primary focus is to provide all our pupils with an effective form of communication which they can use throughout their lives. We also aim to teach them important tolerance, life and academic skills which will be functional in their real lives beyond school.

Chatten provision includes access to individualised curriculums based on input in the areas of; applied behaviour analysis (ABA), speech and language therapy (SALT), occupational therapy (OT) and qualified teacher (QTS) level educational interventions. We use evidence based interventions and monitor progress meticulously to ensure that methods are effective for the pupil.
