Senior Learning Support Assistant

Salary: GLC Point 17 - 21 £21, 429 - £24,120 Pro Rata

Contract Type: 31.25 hours per week term time [39 weeks]

The Gateway Primary Free School is part of the Gateway Learning Community (GLC: apartnership of local primary and secondary schools committed to working together to achieve the highest educational standards for the whole community and is a friendly school that values teamwork and high achievement in all areas of our work with young people.

We are looking to appoint a strong, enthusiastic, and experienced Senior Learning Support Assistant who can combine day to day classroom support with supporting and guiding other LSAs in their role. Successful candidates will be required to work flexibly, taking direction from the class teachers and SENDCo in adapting and planning activities to take pupils' learning forward. Key responsibilities relate to small group provision and intervention for SEND pupils.Our pupils' needs are at the core of our ethos and successful candidates will be required to support the emotional and social development of the young people they work with.

Candidates must be able to carry out and write up necessary observations to inform and evaluate a child's needs. They must be experienced classroom practitioners proactive in dealing with pupils and identifying groups or individuals who may be falling behind in their learning.

Candidates must be able to use their own initiative and will have the following:

NVQ Level 2 or equivalent is essential;
good standard of education; Maths and English GCSE grades A - C, or equivalent;
can provide excellent classroom support in literacy, numeracy and behavioural needs;
good organisation and inter-personal skills;
good knowledge of ICT;
be committed to high achievement from pupils and themselves.
In addition to the duties carried out by LSAs, the senior LSA will be able to:

Plan, deliver and assess work for targeted intervention groups;
Coach and Mentor Identified LSAs;
Lead LSA training as required;
Provide 'last resort' cover for absent teachers.
