About the Team

The Supported Studies 'In to Work' programme at Harlow College develops learners aged 16-25 to gain the skills and confidence to gain paid employment and to progress towards adulthood.

About the Role

The Employment Coach will seek and secure work experience opportunities with local employers with the aim of this leading to paid employment. The Coach will support both in and out of the work place, delivering skills, workshops, tutorials and working one-to-one with learners. This role requires a person with drive and enthusiasm and a 'can do' attitude to meet deadlines. You will also need to be able to sell the 'Supported Internship' programme to prospective employers, highlighting the benefits of employing young people with learning disabilities and differences. You will need to be resilient and persevering in your approach to what can be a challenging task - but the rewards are huge. Experience of working with learners with additional needs is also a requirement of this role.

The Employment Coach will work closely with the Employment Support workers to identify individual learner work experience needs and will then proactively seek to meet these through local employers and recruitment agencies. The Employment Coach will then organise training in Systematic Instruction (training in SI will be provided to the successful candidate) to support the learner in the work place and maximise their chances of securing paid employment.
