This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a well-established charity. Autism Anglia provides ongoing training and supervision, continuing professional development and support as well as an extensive induction on commencement of employment.

Based at the Jigsaw Centre you will support and teach our day students a variety of skills appropriate to their individual needs. As part of an amazing team working in a creative environment you will help our students with the unique challenges that they face, helping them to achieve their personal goals so that they can gain further independence.

You will be enthusiastic and naturally creative with ideas to engage our students in activities both in the centre and in the widder community.

Your main duties will include:

· Helping create personalised learning and activity plans for each individual based on their interests and needs.

· Developing and planning activity sessions and a varied timetable which meets the needs of each person we support

· Report writing.

· Maintaining accurate records and supporting risk assessments for the People we support.

Experience:

Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a calm, patient and relaxed manner, a flexible outlook and the following experience and skills.

  • Experience of working with people with an Autism Spectrum condition - essential
  • Educated to a minimum of GCSE level standard (or equivalent) including maths and English (A-C) - essential
  • Ability to respond appropriately to a variety of demands - essential
  • Ability to react with sensitivity and empathy - essential

Doucecroft School is a specialist co-educational school for children and young people with autism and additional complex needs, age 3 –19 years. Established in 1977, we are experienced and successful in meeting the needs of students with wide-ranging strengths and needs, providing a nurturing environment where students are able to thrive and grow in independence and self-esteem.

Students can benefit from our flexible boarding provision or can attend school as day students and come from across the Anglia region and the London boroughs.

Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy are provided on-site by our experienced therapy team.

Doucecroft School is part of Autism Anglia, a regional charity working with children, adults and families affected by Autism.
