Thursday 8.50 am to 12.20 pm and 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm

Friday 8.50 am to 12.15 pm and 1.00 pm to 3.30 pm

We are looking to appoint a Swimming Instructor for our large Infant and Junior schools. We pride ourselves on being a child focused caring community; one in which all stakeholders views are valued. The successful applicant will hold an ASA Level 2 Teaching qualification and a current National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches or equivalents as a minimum. Experience in delivering swimming lessons in a school environment is also essential.

The main scope of the job will be:

To teach organised classes of swimming lessons to varying ages (4 to 10 years), abilities and disabilities.

To take sole responsibility for the entirety of the Swimming Pool area - including pool, poolside, changing rooms and viewing gallery. This includes the instruction and responsibility for all persons in those areas.

To prepare and deliver annual detailed lesson plans and schemes of work which are progressive and meet the needs of all children

To cover progressive courses of swimming instruction which are nationally recognised.

To instruct classes of varying abilities and ages and test them as appropriate.

To promote and instruct swimming lessons for the schools and supervise and advise poolside assistants in swimming techniques on request and as necessary.

To carry out end of term assessments for all children.

To keep a register of all children, for each school swimming, to record children's progress and achievements.

Ensure that the Health and Safety at Work Act is adhered to, in particular the Code of Practice for Swimming Pools.
