Shoeburyness High School is a popular, successful school that benefits from the commitment, passion and energy of its large staff who work in partnership with our 1742 students, of which, 20% have additional SEND. In addition, we have a designated Learning Resource Base with eighteen Southend-on-Sea placements together with two specific nurture pathways.
We are looking to appoint an outstanding and dynamic SENCo who will determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school. The successful person will either hold the National Award for SEN Co-ordination or will complete the qualification within the statutory 3 years of appointment.
The successful person will be responsible for the day-to-day and long-term strategic fulfilment of the SEN code of practice, in order to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability and provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies.
The SENCo will also be expected to fulfil the professional responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions document.
