This position requires you to work closely with young people with serious mental health problems. You will need to undergo EPUT (NHS Trust) training, Therapeutic and Safe Interventions (TASI). This involves physical restraint of young people. Using the methods taught on the course will be part of your role.

You will need to assess, plan, teach and review education tailored to the individual educational needs of each student assigned to a small group. The education ranges widely from that aimed to improve access to academic learning to 'A' level on occasions. The young people in hospital at the centre are aged 13-18 years.

You will take responsibility for aspects of the curriculum according to identified strengths

You will work as part of the Therapeutic Education team and the wider Multi-disciplinary team. The post involves working with members of the other disciplines at the centre - medical, therapy, nursing, psychology and social work.

Experience of working with social, emotional and mental health difficulties and an understanding of child protection procedures is required. Skills beyond the usual classroom requirement e.g. playing the guitar, would also be beneficial.

Training will be provided for elements of the job which the successful candidate needs a higher level of understanding.
